The Curse of Dreadhaven
Dreadhaven, like most southern towns, had its secrets. The most guarded was "The Hall of the Lost Dead." This abandoned mine shaft and natural cave was watched over by Granny Fletcher. For generations, Dreadhaven and its surrounding communities would lay to rest the bodies of those they were ashamed to have buried in the hallowed grounds of their cemetaries. Granny Fletcher took them in and watched over them.
Sometime in the 1950s Granny Fletcher witnessed a prominent member of Dreadhaven society commit murder. He knew he'd been seen and tried to blame the act on Granny Fletcher. The rumons of her practicing witchcraft, along with her lowly station as caretaker of "The Hall of the Lost Dead" only added to her suspected guilt. A town mob was formed and Granny Fletcher was dragged from her cave and into Dreadhaven to face justice by burning. As the pyre was lit her words rang out across the town, "If it's vengence you want, you shall have it, if it's evil you want, you shall have it. For what you do now, you will pay a powerful price." Then she was gone in an explosion of green flame.
With hatred in her heart, Granny Fletcher returned to "The Hall of the Lost Dead" and began a ritual that would trap Dreadhaven within a barrier that could not be breeched by time or its residents. She began raising the dead that rested all around her - the worst of the worst that been buried in her hall. She called them her "reapers" and unleashed them on the town that had condemned her. Trapped within her barrier, the residents of Dreadhaven would suffer at the hands of "the Reapers" for all time.
